The page and profile disagree about coverage.
Your service page lists a location or service that an important public profile leaves out, or the reverse. We ask you to confirm what you cover, then identify which sources need correction.
ChatGPT SEO
When customers research suppliers in ChatGPT, they need current business facts and useful pages to follow. We check ChatGPT Search access against your chosen policy, where public sources disagree about what you offer and where, and which pages can support the customer question.
These are possible problems to investigate, not findings from a client audit. Start with the customer question and check the supporting facts.
Your service page lists a location or service that an important public profile leaves out, or the reverse. We ask you to confirm what you cover, then identify which sources need correction.
OAI-SearchBot serves Search and GPTBot serves training. Their controls are independent; check the Search policy and hosting access rather than assuming training permission determines eligibility.
Keep the answer date and visible source link, then compare the page with approved current facts. An old response does not establish what a customer receives now.
Record whether ChatGPT used Search. A response without Search is a different observation and should not be treated as a source-page citation test.
The aim is a clear record of which pages and profiles carry your approved facts, so you can decide what to investigate first.
You can decide on ChatGPT Search access without changing your training choice. Search crawler and training settings are separate; infrastructure findings are checked with the responsible owner against your policy.
You can see where service pages, contact details and public profiles differ from approved coverage, including unsupported locations and unresolved third-party conflicts.
You can compare observations with the exact question, Search/no-search mode, date, language and available location context attached. Account, device or product differences we cannot hold constant stay recorded as limits.
We follow a selected customer question from the available sources to a supported next task. Your team helps confirm the business facts and who can act on a finding.

We agree the exact question wording with your named approver, who confirms the relevant business facts.
We review OAI-SearchBot policy and available hosting evidence with the responsible owner. GPTBot training controls remain separate.
We compare the service page and relevant profiles with the coverage and limits your approver confirms before suggesting corrections.
If a repeat check is included, we record the agreed wording, date, Search mode, language, available location context, visible links and factual accuracy. No-search outputs remain separate.
We identify who can update the website or request a third-party correction, and record unavailable evidence and any separately agreed follow-up.
Open each area to see a possible scope. We confirm the available evidence, outputs, approvals, implementation responsibilities and limits with you before work starts.
Possible scope 1
Review OAI-SearchBot policy and available hosting or firewall restrictions with the responsible owner.
See what this coversWe review robots.txt and available infrastructure evidence with your hosting or security owner, against the policy you choose. GPTBot training controls remain a separate choice; access changes require agreement with that owner.
Possible scope 2
Compare the service page, coverage claims, contact details and relevant public profiles.
See what this coversWe ask you to confirm the locations and service limits shown in the pages and profiles.
Possible scope 3
Recommend corrections only for confirmed conflicts.
See what this coversWebsite edits and third-party correction requests may have different owners and dependencies.
Possible scope 4
Record the question, Search mode, date, language, location context and visible sources.
See what this coversWe keep no-search outputs separate and note account, device or product differences that cannot be held constant. Missing answers or source links remain recorded as missing.
This is the proposed order of work. We agree which steps are included and who reviews the facts or makes changes.
We review available OAI-SearchBot policy and infrastructure evidence with your responsible owner. An access finding identifies a task for that owner; it does not prove why an answer omitted a page.
You or your named factual approver confirms the current service and coverage facts. We recommend page or profile corrections for confirmed conflicts.
If repeat checks are included, we compare the agreed question with its mode, language and available location context recorded. Account or product differences that cannot be held constant stay marked as limits.

Illustrative working example · Search access and business facts
We review Search access, approved business facts and the sources behind an agreed customer question. For example, a location enquiry may expose conflicting coverage details.
Customer question
What does this business offer, and where?
The customer needs accurate information about what is offered, where it is available and how to continue their enquiry.
Open each step to see the proposed checks, evidence and possible next task.
Access check
We review OAI-SearchBot policy and available hosting evidence with the responsible owner. GPTBot training controls remain separate. Access supports eligibility, but does not guarantee a recommendation or establish why an answer omitted a business.
Approved facts
We compare relevant pages and public profiles with facts your named approver confirms. We recommend supported corrections and name who can make them; implementation and third-party requests depend on the agreed scope.
Question record
We record the agreed wording, date, Search mode, language, available location context, visible links and factual accuracy. Device and account conditions are noted where relevant and available, with uncontrolled conditions stated. No-search outputs remain separate; editing a page does not immediately rewrite every answer.
Platform guidance: OpenAI’s Search access guidance.
Bring the customer question, relevant pages and the person who can confirm the facts. Before we start, Aaron agrees the scope with you, including who approves changes and who implements them.

Tell us what your customer needs to decide and share the page or answer that concerns you.
Name the subject expert or business owner who can confirm coverage, specifications and scope.
We agree whether the engagement supplies recommendations, edited pages or implementation, and whether repeat checks are included. Ongoing observations are scoped separately under LLM Visibility Monitoring.
Select the statements that describe your situation. This helps frame a discussion; it is not an automated qualification or visibility score.
Short answers on what this work can show, what it cannot, and who does what.
No. OAI-SearchBot governs ChatGPT search access; GPTBot governs crawling for model training. Their settings are independent, so allowing Search does not require allowing training.
No. OpenAI requires OAI-SearchBot access for content to appear in Search summaries and snippets, but access does not control the answer. A blocked site can still appear as a navigational link. Infrastructure restrictions may also need review with the responsible owner.
We record it separately. ChatGPT may search automatically, or the user can select Search. A no-search answer is not a source-page citation test, and editing a page does not immediately rewrite every answer.
Only if the proposal includes it. We agree whether the work covers recommendations, revised pages, markup or implementation, and name who approves facts and who makes changes. Robots.txt, hosting or firewall changes need separate agreement with the responsible owner. Content Optimisation is a separate service and is not automatically included.
Start with the relevant public pages and available observations. Search Console, analytics or site access can add context; the scope must record checks that cannot be performed.
None of these checks can guarantee inclusion, citations, traffic or enquiries. Agree the deliverables and how they will be reviewed, while keeping business outcomes separate from source observations.
Your hosting or security owner needs to review the request and policy. OpenAI recommends allowing OAI-SearchBot and requests from its published IP ranges; robots.txt permission alone does not remove a firewall block. Any change needs that owner’s agreement within scope.
ChatGPT-User handles user-requested page visits rather than automatic crawling. OpenAI says robots.txt may not apply to those visits and that this agent does not decide Search eligibility. OAI-SearchBot handles Search access, so we keep the roles separate.
A Search answer may show citations and, when available, a Sources panel. We save the links actually shown with the question, date, mode, language and available location context. Missing links stay marked as missing; we do not invent a source trail.
We confirm the correct fact with you first. We recommend a correction, or update your own page if implementation is included, and identify who can request the third-party change. We record unresolved dependencies and cannot promise when that publisher or an answer will change.
A practical starting point
Share the customer question and the source page or observation that needs attention. Confirm the proposed scope before work begins.
